Grove House is an innovative care concept developed by the long-standing Ilkley Society, which is a departure from the traditional Abbeyfield housing facilities found elsewhere in Great Britain. Grove House offers a range of services, still aimed at the older, frail person, but also covering the full spectrum of care and supportive housing, with Abbeyfield working in partnership with the local caring agencies. Our facilities include:
Abbeyfield Ilkley works closely with Social Services, NHS Trusts and the local Council for Voluntary Services; the latter partnership resulting in the Talking Newspapers for the Blind and the Wharfe Valley Project moving their premises to Grove House. In addition, the Social Services Home Care Team and the main Ilkley Day Care Centre are located at Grove House. Abbeyfield works with WEA, Age Concern, U3A and the Wharfe Valley Project. Never before in this region of the country have the care facilities of a range of statutory and voluntary agencies been brought together under one roof for the benefit of the local community. These excellent modern facilities are further enhanced by an attractive courtyard and gardens, and Grove House is only 150 yards from Ilkley's famous Grove promenade and the legendary Betty's Cafe. Ilkley may be reached by bus and train services from Leeds and Bradford, and bus service only from Skipton and Keighley. The public transport interchange is within a short walk of Grove House. Grove House is managed by a General Manager (Tel: 01943 886001) who is supported by an Executive Committee.
